Fix rendering issues on Linux with Qt5 and Intel GPU

If this code is not executed our OpenGL context has no working depth buffer, and exhibits various rendering issues. This needs more testing as Utkarsh disabled this code due to issues with the GLEW initialization when using Qt5.
