QVTKWidget crash related to NVidia threaded optimization setting
This issue was created automatically from an original Mantis Issue. Further discussion may take place here.
Version: Nightly (Jan 27, 2012, downloaded at 8am EST) Platform: Win7-64, VS2008 Debug build.
Options changed in CMAKE: BUID_EXAMPLES -> ON VTK_USE_QT -> ON VTK_USE_QVTK_QTOPENGL -> ON
Crash in: VTK\Examples\GUI\Qt\SimpleView
SimpleView example application crashes at start-up on the 2nd time running it. It runs fine the first time. Second time and subsequent runs may or may not crash, although crashing is more frequent than not crashing at start-up.
To make the crash go away:
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel
- In Select Task pane, select 3D Settings, then Manage 3D Settings. Go to Program Settings tab.
- Click Add, then point to SimpleView executable.
- In the Feature column, scroll down to Threaded Optimization, set it to Off.
If Threaded Optimization = off, running SimpleView doesn't crash however many times you start it up. If Threaded Optimization = on, SimpleView will crash at start-up inconsistently.
This doesn't happen in VTK 5.8 release.
Thanks!
