Header validation

Nick Thompson requested to merge (removed):header_validation into master

Referencing this issue, if VTK dataset have field headers containing a space, Paraview does not parse the resulting files correctly, and the error message is inscrutable.

This PR gives an intelligible error message for this problem at the point of data generation.
