Handle composite arrays in the nearest point and cell finding code

@utkarsh.ayachit I'm 99% sure I tested this, but maybe it wasn't with composite data? I seem to remember testing that case...

Anyway I was unable to reproduce the hang @wascott reported in #13042 (closed), but this fixes the error I got when I followed the steps he outlined.
