Client/Server version mismatch

I am doing a forward connection over an SSH tunnel (as described in https://www.paraview.org/Wiki/Reverse_connection_and_port_forwarding), and am getting the following error message on the client:

(   8.226s) [paraview        ]vtkSocketCommunicator.c:592    ERR| vtkSocketCommunicator (0x2078990): Client/server version hash mismatch.
(   8.281s) [paraview        ]vtkTCPNetworkAccessMana:333    ERR| vtkTCPNetworkAccessManager (0xcbdff0):
**********************************************************************
Connection failed during handshake. vtkSocketCommunicator::GetVersion()
 returns different values on the two connecting processes
 (Current value: 100).
**********************************************************************

The error message in the server is nearly identical (instead with vtkSocketCommunicator.c:481). I have installed Paraview version 5.9.0 using the prebuilt download on both the server and client, so I cannot understand why it's complaining about a version mismatch. Therefore, I can only conclude this is a bug.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
