Error messages
From a user:
ParaView has a tendency to spew out errors and warnings that don't seem applicable to the current visualization, and don't seem to affect anything. I'm sure most of these warnings/error messages have a purpose, but often they're just annoying. With ParaView 5.4.0, they're a little more annoying since now the "Output Messages" dialog box is Always-On-Top, and even if I dock it the it's always getting focus set when there's a new message. (For example, if I change the time step).
Here's an example of a nuisance message I'm constantly getting with the current pipeline I have set up:
kMaskPoints (0x40206f90): No points to mask ERROR: In /home/buildslave/dashboards/buildbot/paraview-pvbinsdash-linux-shared-release_superbuild/source-paraview/VTK/Filters/Core/vtkMaskPoints.cxx, line 320 vtkMaskPoints (0x40206f90): No points to mask ERROR: In /home/buildslave/dashboards/buildbot/paraview-pvbinsdash-linux-shared-release_superbuild/source-paraview/VTK/Filters/Core/vtkMaskPoints.cxx, line 320 vtkMaskPoints (0x40206f90): No points to mask ERROR: In /home/buildslave/dashboards/buildbot/paraview-pvbinsdash-linux-shared-release_superbuild/source-paraview/VTK/Filters/Core/vtkMaskPoints.cxx, line 320 vtkMaskPoints (0x40206f90): No points to mask
I'm not looking for a solution to this message in particular, but I would like a way to prevent these from continually popping up and distracting me from my work flow within paraview.
Back to Alan. The output view should NEVER steal focus away from other views.
No Points to mask sounds like a warning, not an error. Can we move it to a warning, and turn it off for releases?
