DOC: Adding more documentation changes

Robert M. O'Bara requested to merge bob.obara/smtk:moreDocChanges into master
  1. Added changes based on suggestions made after !2958 (merged)
  2. Added missing note on calling methods with in a class
  3. Added missing note on global variables
  4. Updated develop.md to point to the style information and added a section on reformatting a merge request.
