paraview: avoid shallow clones

The release branch has moved on, so apparently this no longer works. We clone shallowly and only check out the ref afterwards.

@utkarsh.ayachit FYI, shallow cloning hashes only works if a ref points directly to it apparently.

Fixes #92 (closed).
