Misleading wording for MS compiler
Hello,
Here is a CMake log :
17:00:59 [2024-05-06T15:00:59.039Z] -- Building for: Visual Studio 17 2022
17:01:00 [2024-05-06T15:01:00.961Z] -- The CXX compiler identification is MSVC 19.35.32217.1
MSVC doesn't actually identify the compiler, but Visual Studio C++ (a part of Visual Studio).
That's what is explained in the first sentence of the documentation of MSVC_VERSION: The version of Microsoft Visual C/C++ being used if any.
But after this sentence, the documentation is wrong. As the log, which shouldn't mention MSVC.
See https://blog.knatten.org/2022/08/26/microsoft-c-versions-explained/
I think something should be clarified...
