Folders named CMakeFiles in build directory could be shortened
This is an issue that effects the ability for existing codebases to adopt cmake.
When building on windows, especially older versions thereof, the operating system has a very difficult time with file paths longer than some internal path length. The symptoms of this problem are varied, so it's not always obvious what's actually causing things to fail until you dig into it deeply enough.
If an existing project (Like mine) has very long path names for the full file paths to source files, the build tree that cmake generates will generally mirror the same paths, but with "CMakeFiles" at the end of it.
It may seem silly, but in many cases my project has found that shortening file names by only 1-3 characters can be the difference between a successful build and a failed build.
It would be great if CMake could change this folder name, e.g. "CMTmp", or allow for the specific folder name to be controlled by some global cache variable, so that projects can more easily adopt cmake.
