better formatting and warn when import fails due to camera model

David E. DeMarle requested to merge demarle/cinema_python:fixup-warning-messages-in-pvimport into master

the print before raise is there intentionally. Otherwise paraview swallows the message and just prints a generic one with no clear indication which way it failed.

Minor corresponding change in PV coming too.
