Promote linear elements to quadratic
As mentioned here, the goal is to take linear tetrahedral and/or triangular datasets and convert them to quadratic elements by node insertion.
This could be done in stages:

VTK filter to perform promotion. -
SMTK operation that uses VTK filter on selected face and volume cells. -
Extensions to transfer annotations to the promoted datasets. This is a little tricky for sets of nodes where boundary conditions apply; mid-edge and mid-face nodes should probably be included in images of pre-existing node sets when the matching corner points for the edge/face are all included.
