Data layout change, extension x{d}mf2, x{d}mf3?
Apparently, the data layout in XDMF files changed between versions 2 and 3, but the recommended file extensions (if there are any) are xdmf
and xmf
in both cases.
This makes it difficult for readers (like ParaView) to determine which file type is handled, so in many cases the user will repeatedly find oneself confronted with a menu à la
To remove the need for this, I suggest that XDMF recommends file extensions x{d}mf{2,3}
for its files.
