Python install dir: site-package vs dist-packages
The installation directory of all Python files are fixed to site-packages
right now; see, e.g., https://gitlab.kitware.com/vtk/vtk/blob/master/Utilities/Python/CMakeLists.txt#L35. This is a sane default choice.
When packaging VTK for Debian, we need to patch VTK to use dist-packages
instead (as per Debian convention). It'd be great if this was configurable via a CMake variable (e.g., PYTHON_PACKAGE_DIRECTORY_SUFFIX
) -- with a default of site-packages
of course.
