      Improve the shadow maps in VTK · f983396c

      This patch changes how the shadow maps work so that
      less shadow code is in the mappers. Now the mappers get
      a key that contains the shadow map pass and they let
      that pass handle setting up shader code and uniforms.
      
      Also changed the shadow map algorithm slightly.  The old approach did
      a 1/3 weighting of pixels (0,0) (1,0) and (0,1)  This new algorithm
      does a 2x2 box convolution against the 3x3 pixel neighborhood.
      It takes 9 tex lookups but produces much nicer results.

      two vectors. No reason not to just use std::vector directly
      now.

      Use the following commands to switch to standard header and namespace:

      Ken Martin authored
      First cut at adding shadows back into VTK. It does
      not use spot intensity maps and currently you have to
      build the render passes yourself. But I will soon add
      a Renderer method to turn shadows on that handles all
      the details for you.

      This patch implements OpenGL error checking in VTK.
      
      OpenGL's error handling implementation error is designed such
      that internal error flags remain set with the first error that
      occurred until they are explicitly checked. With this design
      it's important to check and clear the error flags regularly
      else they become unusable as code checking for errors ends
      up reporting earlier undetected unrelated errors.
      
      This patch takes the following approach:
      
      1) at public entry points into code that uses OpenGL clear the
      error flags without reporting errors. This guards against
      reportinig unrealted errors, such as those caused by code
      outside of VTK. See vtkOpenGLClearErrorMacro
      
      2) before returning from functions that made OpenGL calls check
      for and report OpenGL errors. This detects Open GL errors in the
      function/method where they occurred facilitating debugging and it
      clears error flags so that user code doesn't detect errors caused
      by VTK. See vtkOpenGLCheckErrorMacro
      
      This patch cleans up a number of bugs that were detected by
      the new error checking and reporting.
      
      This patch also contains improvements for OpenGL pixel buffers, a
      renderbuffer object, and fast paths through framebuffer objects,
      and texture objects, and fast path for setting uniform variables,
      all of which are needed in vtkSurfaceLICPainter and
      vtkLineIntegralConvolution2D GPGPU code.

      Modularize VTK tree layout · cdd4d6fd
      VTK Developers authored
      Move source files from their former monolithic VTK location to their new
      location in modular VTK without modification.  This preserves enough
      information for "git blame -M" and "git log --follow" to connect
      modularized VTK files to their original location and history.

      The CVS $Revision$ keyword replacement will no longer maintain these
      macros automatically.  They were used only to implement CollectRevisions
      and vtkObjectBase::PrintRevisions, an API that was never used.

      BUG: fixed test TestPShadowMapPass. The cause of this bug is that all process did not share the same
      bounding box for visible objects, because some are visible on proc 0 and not on proc 1.
      Compositing the shadow maps had no meaning because they did not share the znear/zfar.
      Now, the global bounding box of all props in the scene is used instead.
      This looses some precision on the shadow maps, but it is more robust.
