vtk tears while animating a scene on Mac OS X

If you create a simple scene, say one Cone actor, and drag it around to animate it there are many tearing effects. This looks bad. At WWDC I showed an Apple OpenGL engineer and the fix is to simply turn on VBL syncing for the OGL context.
Patch attached. I have tested this and it works great.
The patch also makes a very minor unrelated change that changes some 'long's into 'GLint's. This is to allow compilation on an unnamable future Mac OS X. :) On 10.4 and earlier, a GLint is a long, so there is no worry.
