Color band around some minimum value
Hello, It's about more than 15 years that I never worked with vtk, a rather long period of time. Recently I rediscovered vtk. I'm using the python and the qt (pyside) interface to produce a custom visualization application for scientific data. A lot has been evolve inside vtk in the meanwhile and I think it is an excellent tool for my purpose. Recently, I faced an issue which I do not know how to resolve, doing it differently, or whether it's simply a visualization artifact not easily to be eliminated. I attached two pictures showing a banded visualization of point data on a flat plate, flat in order to eliminate any light or inclination effects. The function visualized is z = math.sin(0.2*(x2+y2)). While the elevation function shows nice smooth bands, the distance function shows some fluctuation around the minimum, where the function is shifted by a value of 5, minimum being at 5. The attached code is based on the elevationBands.py example. The code is extended by another surface labeled "CUSTOM". Inside the DisplaySurface one of the two alternatives may be activated. elif surface == "CUSTOM": src = MakeSurface(type='elev') #src = MakeSurface(type='norm') where MakeSurface is the new function to generate the sin distribution. I hope someone may find time to explain or even resolve the issue. Best regards to all Edgar
