Can't build vtk using mingw-w64 and CMake
I'd like to build VTK from source using Mingw-w64. I went through the following steps:
- Forked VTK to own GitLab account
- Did a
git clone own_account_url
on local machine - Downloaded and installed CMake
- Downloaded and installed Mingw-w64 from sourceforge
- Created a
\bin
folder inside local clone of VTK repo - Ran CMake with
.\vtk
as source folder and.\vtk\bin
as binary folder
When I hit "Configure" in CMake I get the following error:
The C compiler identification is unknown The CXX compiler identification is unknown CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:18 (project): The CMAKE_C_COMPILER:
C:/MinGW/bin/gcc.exe
is not a full path to an existing compiler tool.
Tell CMake where to find the compiler by setting either the environment variable "CC" or the CMake cache entry CMAKE_C_COMPILER to the full path to the compiler, or to the compiler name if it is in the PATH.

I am not sure why this occurs. Could anyone please help? Thanks!
