      1) Make package now includes all the files necessary for VisIt to run on AIX.
In particular, I modified the test that determines if a library is a shared library for AIX in the CMake script that decides if a third party library
should be added to a binary distribution.

      2) I modified the GLEW initialization to handle AIX when it was installed
         from a binary distribution.

      3) I modified visit-install to remove several files from the install location
         before copying in new versions.

Change GL lib path separator to ";".

We allow a user to specify a set of paths for libGL, with a
separator between them. We were using ":" for that separator, but
this causes issues on windows, as ":" is used for the separator
          between drive and path.

This updates the separator to ";", which is a bit unnatural for
those in the Unix world, but at least works reliably on all
          platforms.

Give a warning when relying on the compile-time default.

In many cases, the compile-time default of /usr/local/visit is not
the correct place to look. This path will normally never be
taken, but issues during launch can prevent the environment
variable from being set, necessitating the need for this default.
If we have to use, put up a scary message in the debug logs to cue
the user that their launch procedure isn't quite right.

An avtCallback::IssueWarning would be preferable in this context,
since that will pop up or at least appear in the user's terminal.
However, avtCallback is at a higher level then the common/
libraries, so a debug statement was opted for instead.

Add fallback OpenGL libraries for Linux, AIX. · 889a1322
      fogal1 authored
Use the new colon-separated syntax to give a search order to the
system OpenGL shared object on Linux and AIX. On Linux, we use
libGL.so.1, which should exist on all Linux systems, and fall back
to libGL.so, which should only exist on a developer's system,
should the runtime lib fail. On AIX, one needs to encode the
machine's bit width into the library loading, because of how
system shared objects are built. Note that our own shared
libraries are built a bit more sanely, and do not require the
"(object.o)" syntax, so the libOSMesa setting actually *is*
      correct.

Also, the specifications for these libraries given all of our
platforms was getting a bit hairy, so I moved them into an ifdef
block above the struct for legibility.

      Fix Windows env/argument for GL. · 4e917bad

I fixed a copy-paste mistake earlier which caused the Windows

Update GLEW with a fix for a bug loading the extension loader.
The DL error needs to be cleared before loading the unmangled

Add some functions for looking up runtime parameters. · 84b7cd18
      fogal1 authored
This adds a `RuntimeSettings' namespace which has functions for
easily configuring and looking up runtime parameters. The
important consideration this implementation handles is finding
      parameters from multiple places.

Settings are given a compile time default, and metadata such as
associated environment variables and command line options. The
search defaults to the compile-time value, but successively looks
for settings which are more specific for the user.

The current ordering, from most important/specific to least, is:
        command line options
        environment variable
        configuration file entry (unimplemented)
        compile-time default

Adding a new parameter is as simple as adding a new entry to a
struct within the implementation. There is a framework in place
to look up integer, double, boolean, and string values. String
values are a bit special: if they begin with '.', we prepend
VisIt's installation directory to them. This allows one to store
      set...
