2.  Added gateway socket bridge so connections from compute nodes (i.e. for
    parallel engines) can pass thruogh the login node's SSH tunnels.
3.  Added detection of failed ports to ViewerPasswordWindow, but it is not
    yet used.  Doing so reliably requires a PTY (which is not guaranteed),
    so it was simpler to just forward one remote port for each local port.
