Option to "Apply" without rendering
When constructing pipelines it is often desirable to avoid rendering the data during intermediate steps. For instance, I've just loaded a large (4 GB) CSV file and ParaView took 52 minutes attempting to, I assume, render a spreadsheet view -- and has ballooned to ~30 GB of RAM. I know that my next step will be to "Table to Points" the data so I can plot the data in a Render View. I have no desire to view the spreadsheet data. So even if ParaView is actually spending its time converting the CSV data into a "table" data-structure (in which case, this needs to be much faster), I'd still prefer to skip the spreadsheet view. As it is, it's currently ~40x faster to use the GUI import tool & plot this data in Matlab than it is in ParaView.
This desire to optionally avoid rendering could be available on a per pipeline object basis. Another example of this could include importing an Exodus file and avoid rendering until after "cell data to point data", "threshold", "isovolume", "extract surface".
Here's a picture of my Properties Panel for the csv-file immediately prior to hitting "apply":
