Artifacts in Point Gaussian
After trying out the new RC1 of Paraview 5.3.0 you provide as download-bundle for Linux 64-bit I got very excited seeing that you finally have it built against the Qt5.8 libs:
I'm using it on Ubuntu 16.04.2 and it feels very snappy. The GUI design now looks a bit more fresh!
Now to bad part of this new version:
The "Point Gaussian" Representation has some graphical issues that were not present in any of the version 5.2.x series.
It is easy to reproduce:
- Open Paraview 5.3
- Create anything like a simple box (Source->Box)
- Change representation to "Point Gaussian"
- Now under "Properties" the "Point Gaussian" section set "Gaussian Radius" to "1" and press "apply".
If I do that on my system it looks like you can see in the screenshot:
The spheres look fine, but the black triangles should not appear. If you starting rotating this, different artifacts start to appear.
I'm using default settings of Paraview. Nvidias propietary drivers are installed (version 367.57). This is my card:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM107 [GeForce GTX 750 Ti] (rev a2)
I think it is related to OpenGL. I will try to compile your newest version of Paraview and report back.
