Paraview Crashes When using 'Run Selection Query' in 'Find Data' dialogue
I'm following the tutorial for Paraview 5.1 found here: http://www.paraview.org/Wiki/The_ParaView_Tutorial
I'm doing Exercise 2.27 from the tutorial, the instructions for which I'm showing here:
- Open the file can.ex2, load all variables, Apply.
- Go to the last time step.
- Open the Find Data dialogue.
- From the top combo box, choose to find Cells.
- In the next row of widgets, choose EPQS from the first combo box, is >= from the second combo box, and enter 1.5 in the final text box.
- Click the Run Selection Query button.
As soon as I do the sixth step, Paraview crashes. If I first run paraview from the Konsole (the equivalent of Terminal on Kubuntu 16.04), it shows the following error:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
The same thing happens if do Run Selection Query with any settings on any data.
EDIT: Sorry I didn't mention this before. I'm doing this on Paraview 5.01, which is what is downloaded from the apt repository using the command sudo apt-get install paraview
on Kubuntu.
EDIT: I tried building Paraview 5.2 manually as explained here: http://www.paraview.org/Wiki/ParaView:Build_And_Install. It was an absolute nightmare; it took me three days to get through all the errors that showed up during the process and even after that the application wouldn't launch (I kept on getting Aborted (core dumped)
messages, along with other QT and ibus related problems that I couldn't resolve). When I tried to go back to Paraview 5.01 from apt, it wouldn't work anymore. In the end, I ended up having to re-install my OS; I switched to Ubuntu 16.04. I am currently running Paraview 5.01 (from apt), but I am facing the same issue of a crash when I Run Selection Query.
If this problem does not show up in Paraview 5.2, I would just like to say that it would be very nice if Paraview 5.2 was available on the apt repositories.
