Modify readers to be smart with Auto Apply

Please make readers smarter when Auto Apply is on. One idea that Ken had (and its a good one) is to have a "properties tab" lite pop up as a dialog box, allow users to select their variables, blocks, etc. and then say apply or ok or something. Then, go back into "auto apply" mode.
