---
It would be very nice to have a panel that lists the available time domains of all readers, sources and filters in the pipeline. Right now one has to navigate to the information tab of every filters Object Inspector Panel and then scribble down the values on a post-it note.
The simplest thing to do would be to add a "Temporal Bounds" column to the Statistics View that lists the time ranges and/or discrete time samples for every dataset.
It would be more intuitive to have a graphical representation of the same data. In this case one could visually see when temporal sources have overlapping or non overlapping ranges. Another useful addition would be a vertical bar that shows the current time.

This filter can produce data over either a continuous range or at discrete time values. In either case the range is from t=0.0 to t=1.0. However the information tab for this filter does not show the available time range.
The fix is probably to split the source into a continuous source and a discrete source so that when request information is initially called (before accept) it knows what type of time range it needs to give for the info page to use.

Right now the histogram looks at the range of the scalar it is making a histogram for and then creates bins that span that range. That is a good default, but not always the desired behavior. For example, if I make a histogram for data that changes over time, the range and size of the bins will change every time change. There should be an option in the histogram filter to specify the range of the bins.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/5860(MARS-low) Time value font size is incorrect after applying a lookmark2019-03-05T10:47:01-05:00Kitware Robot(MARS-low) Time value font size is incorrect after applying a lookmark**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=5860). First, it is unclear what a "View" is when we have things named View under the View menu which are not "Views". Can we rename the Animation View and Statistics View to something else, or promote them to proper "Views".
Second, the distinction between Browser and Inspector is fairly clear if somewhat esoteric. Do we have to make any distinction? Can't we call them all either Browswers or Inspectors or Panels?
Third we have an Animation Inspector and an Animation View, which do similar things, albeit with different interfaces. Can we either get rid of the old one, or make it so that we have one panel under the menu and make the choice of UI changeable? That way it would be very clear where to go when you want to set up the animation, and the user do so with whichever interface they find more intuitive.

I have a dataset with 2000 time steps, when I load it, apply some filters and save state, I cannot reload the *.pvsm file.
Paraview goes into a very long wait/hang and then crashes with a memory allocation error. Examining the stack trace shows that the error occurs when loading TimeStepValues from the XML. (many sub calls are spawned causing the trouble)
Editing the xml by hand and removing all keys with TimeStepValues enables me to reload the project, but the state is not stable as all time info gets munged.

Note: This happens with a CVS trunk checkout of source from around Sept 17, and running client on Windows XP, server on linux cluster at Sandia.
Note 2: We've repeatedly seen this error also on Linux client (with linux cluster)
These were the steps that caused problems on windows client run:
-- Opened Golevka CTH data.
-- Checked the two Mass variables on.
-- Threshold on Mass 1, resulting in about 28K cells.
-- Clip on half of data.
-- Probe on location (used default location).
on Windows, the probe froze, did not return control to app within a few minutes, server spun.
on Linux, only got to probe once, rotating before probe caused app to freeze, and server to die.
On windows run we attached to the cluster/server root node, attached gdb, and saw the stack spinning on an open MPI call.

Clipping plane calculation seems to have problems when the data bounds include large numbers. Bug report from Renato below. To reproduce, load the attached dataset, zoom until close and rotate.
A friend brought me a question about a rendering problem in ParaView. He
created a very simple dataset in VTK legacy format (available in
http://www.nacad.ufrj.br/~rnelias/paraview/Celula_reservatorio.vtk) and
loaded the data in PV (versions 2.6.2 and 3.1.0) without any problem but,
when he tries to move and rotate the geometry it turns completely distorted
and messed (as can be seen here
http://www.nacad.ufrj.br/~rnelias/paraview/Celula_paraview2.JPG and here
http://www.nacad.ufrj.br/~rnelias/paraview/Celula_paraview.JPG). My first
thought was that it could be a driver problem so I tried to reproduced the
same problem in my computer which showed me the same problematic geometry
(only when I move and rotate the model). If you look into the data supplied
you can see that the point coordinates are a bit large, here is another
suspicious... __Maybe__ VTK or PV is getting a confused about so large point
coordinates. Does anyone have any idea about what is happening?
Thanks for any help
PS.: Tests performed in:

Ken and I are having random crashes using Client/Server. My setup is as follows:
XP client/ Linux server. 3 nodes, which is 12 processors.
Open up, then do nothing. Seems to only work if ParaView is left alone. After a random amount of time, ranging from about 5 minutes to 20 minutes, without bringing anything up or touching the mouse, the GUI will not respond. Server is still running, but the client states the following:
ERROR: In C:\alan\paraviewNightly\src\ParaView3\Servers\Common\vtkServerConnection.cxx, line 67
vtkServerConnection (07305038): Server Connection Closed!
The server doesn't think that it has lost the connection, and waits indefinitely.
Could someone at Kitware try to replicate this? Give me a call if you need any other info. 9/17/2007 sourcecode.
Sorry for being so vague, but I don't know how to repeatedly create this.

In the exodus panel, under the list of variables, there is a column for the range. We should get rid of this column for the following reasons:

There are a couple of problems with the scale widget in the color scale editor dialog box.
1. It is a combo box. We have already found plenty of issues with using combo boxes for real numbers; let's try to avoid them.
2. The rendering does not update with focus leaves the scale box. Whenever the widget loses focus (for example the user finishes typing values and hits tab) the view should rerender to display the results. Cool - it just crashed. No output, other than to say the connection droped.

Note: I have not tested this on Linux, it shows on my Windows build.
When loading CSV data (see below, and attached image) to show in XY plot, that has zero values in curve, the X-axis zeroes out at -5.55e-17, instead of 0.
However, resizing the window fixes it, so it appears to be some sort of viewport scaling issue, and obviously is more annoying than urgent bug.
This CSV data exhibts the problem:

Some filters, such as contour, are supposed to replace their input if their source shows an opaque surface. This is behavior is specified by setting the replace_input of the Visibility hint tag to 2. That all works fine for surface representation, but not the new surface with edges representation. The surface with edges representation remains visible after the filter is first applied. Here is a simple replication:
1. Create a sphere source.
2. Create a clip filter and apply. Everything is working fine.
3. Delete the clip filter.
4. Change the representation of the sphere to Surface With Edges.
5. Create and apply another clip filter. Looking at the "Move Mode" through "SelectFrustumPoints" entries in the Edit menu, I see a few nit-picky issues.
1. For consistency he word "Mode" should either be used for all 5 entries, or not at all.

* On the Information tab, print out the time step that produced this data range.

The file browser does not support network drives on Windows. It would be nice to allow it. The user should be able to browser Network Neighborhood or any network locations under Favorites. It would also be desirable to allow users to type a server path and browser there. Such as:

I connect from my Windows machine to our linux cluster. I load some data and then try to save an animation with the Disconnect before saving animation.
Everything looks like it is working fine. The file browser is browsing the remote system. I can select a file name, the client disconnects, and the server tries to make the animation. However, the animation is never generated. Instead, it outputs an error and exits. The error is because the filename is bad because a C: is prepended to the filename.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/5633Support fast-path temporal plotting of edge/face variables2019-03-05T10:47:28-05:00Kitware RobotSupport fast-path temporal plotting of edge/face variables**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=5633). Right now, the fast-path plotting mechanism of the exodus reader only works for data attached to a block. It does not yet work for face or edge data attached to a set.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/5632Allow fast-path temporal plots through D32019-03-05T10:47:28-05:00Kitware RobotAllow fast-path temporal plots through D3**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=5632). Right now you can do "fast-path" temporal plots (plot cell/point/field over time) if the respective filter is connected directly to the exodus reader. This should also work if D3 is in between the reader and plotting filter. I think D3 only needs to be aware of the convention and pass the data through. No repartitioning needs to be done on this part of the data.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/5631Allow fast-path temporal plots through array calculator2019-03-05T10:47:28-05:00Kitware RobotAllow fast-path temporal plots through array calculator**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=5631). Right now you can do "fast-path" temporal plots (plot cell/point/field over time) if the respective filter is connected directly to the exodus reader. This should also work if the array calculator is in between the reader and plotting filter. To do this, the array calculator has to be aware of the special convention for passing this array of data over time.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/5630Support vector global exodus variables2019-03-05T10:47:28-05:00Kitware RobotSupport vector global exodus variables**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=5630).
