I built ParaView from source on FreeBSD-14, with MPI enabled. Only MPICH-3.4.3 is installed on this machine, no OpenMPI nor any other MPI implementation. MPI4PY has been compiled on this machine, against MPICH. Compilation and installation are fine, without errors.
But trying to launch paraview produces the error "Attempting to use an MPI routine before initializing MPICH", and then the program exits.
Any idea of a possible origin of this error?

I use the "transforming" property within the Display settings of each subset to distribute the subsets in space, one next to each other to visualize all of them at once.
I would like to click "zoom to data" to focus the viewport to one subset, and make the rotation of the viewport relative to the center of the subset. This works on my laptop, but it doesn't work on the university server...

Contrary to ProjectSpectrumMagnitude (TableData and DestinationMesh), SoundQuantitiesCalculator inputs are labelled input and source. It would be nice if they were coherently ordered and labelled.

We have a significant performance regression selecting large datasets. I dug deep enough that I know what is wrong even if Kitware can't replicate it. The reason it is hard to replicate is that if you have a fast disk (such as an ssd) it won't show, and the second time you run it, due to disk caching, it won't show. The way I found the issue is comparing 5.9.1 (which is blazingly fast) with 5.11.1 (which is molasses slow). Here is how to replicate it and superficially what the problem is. Fixing it/ rolling back changes are over my head - I don't have a clue.
* I am going to compare and contrast debug builds of 5.9.1 and 5.11.1. Start with 5.11.1. Linux. Builtin server.
* Untar the attached tarball. This will create a directory with a script.
* Copy can.ex2 into this directory.
* Edit the script to make as many copies of can as you like. As I said above, you probably can't replicate the issue, so creating 8 should be fine. Run the script.
* Run ParaView in a debugger.
* File/ Open. Go to the directory created above. Don't do anything yet.
* Put a break in vtkPVFileInformation::CopyFromObject line 424. This is in file vtkPVFileInformation.cxx. The code looks about like this:
```
std::string path = helper->GetPath();
this->SetName(path.c_str());
```
* Now, select the dataset canLotsO.e.8. After some period (should be instantaneous, and is for 5.9.1, isn't for 5.11.1), canLotsO.e.8 will be moved into the text entry box below, where you can then say OK.
When you do this with 5.9.1, the path variable will be "/pathToTheMagicDirectory/canLotsO.e.8". It will be called once (I believe).
When you do this with 5.11.1, the path variable will be "/pathToTheMagicDirectory/canLotsO.e.8.[0-7]". It will be called 8 times.
The issue is that each call is slow in a system call to access, which is killing us. Some datasets have hundreds of thousands or millions of files. These will never open. Here is the trace stack.
```
vtksys::SystemTools::FileExists,
vtksys::SystemTools::FileExists,
vtkPVFileInformationGetType,
vtkPVFileInformation::CopyFromObject,
Hi,
I'm working on LidarView, a ParaView based app, and we use ParaView 5.11 time manager to read lidar pcap (so real time network data).
In https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/merge_requests/6245 (and more specifically 6c26b49e740c78e812baba73ddb662edf19d13fd), `PLAYMODE_REALTIME` and `SetDuration` was deprecated. As we use this mode and the `duration` variable to set the frame speed, we cannot emulate "real time" data anymore in LidarView with ParaView master (or at least the same way we used to do).
In LidarView, we used this mode to emulate real time (or specific speeds relative to real time (to run 5 seconds every second for instance)), and this is a feature that we believe would also make sense in any context where live data has been recorded and a replay respecting the actually elapsed time matters.
Do you think this could be re-implemented / reverted? Or should that be considered that it is too specific to LidarView and therefore re-implemented there?
```
(1020.190s) [paraview ]vtkSMProxyListDomain.cx:329 ERR| vtkSMProxyListDomain (0x7fb36840a790): Invalid index 6

After some research I've found that `VoronoiKernel` is duplicated for proxy group here:
https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/blob/master/VTKExtensions/Points/Resources/points.xml#L490
This leads to inconsistent vtkSMProxyListDomain internals.

Dataset is marked as DoNotRelease. Please do not release. I will send it to Cory right now. Cory, OK to pass to anyone at Kitware.

For some of our codes, the grid is organized into various blocks. For example, a dataset may be split such that each material is in a separate block in a multiblock dataset.
It would be good to have some method that will calculate standard values, such as mininum/maximum variable values on a per block basis, and have the results listed out neatly in a table. For example, if each material block had a `density` variable, have a method to compute the local minimum and maximum density value of each block, and list them out in a table.

I believe that the VTK Reflection Filter corrupts VTK_PIXEL data.
I made a simple legacy VTK file with an unstructured grid containing two squares, one defined as a VTK_QUAD and one as a VTK_PIXEL. I then loaded the file into Paraview and ran the reflect filter.
The bottom one, which is the VTK_QUAD, worked fine. The top one, using VTK_PIXEL, gets corrupted.

I do not seem to be able to select vertical ranges in any combination of CTRL key, plus/minus ui buttons, or left/right/hold mouse events anymore
