The crash occurs while trying to get information from the SIL model. ---
If you have the animation mode set to Sequence and the start and end time set to the same thing, then hitting play causes ParaView to go in an infinite loop. To replicate, do the following:
1. Open the Animation View
2. Set the start and end time both to 0 and set mode to sequence
3. Hit play
Note that this causes weirdness when loading a file with exactly one time step. For example,
1. Load disk_out_ref.ex2
2. Change the animation mode to Sequence
3. Hit play
In this case the bug is particularly noticeable because of bug #8526.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/8526Start Time and End Time ignored2019-03-05T10:43:16-05:00Kitware RobotStart Time and End Time ignored**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=8526). The Start Time and End Time fields of the Animation View are now being ignored when data with time is loaded. To replicate, do the following
1. Load can.ex2
2. Open the Animation View
3. Change the Mode to either Sequence or Real Time
4. Change the End Time to be 1
5. Play
Notice that the animation still plays between 0 and 0.0043 (the time range of the data) rather than what was set.
This bug makes it difficult to create animations that change filter properties rather than the files loaded. It is particularly problematic when working with data files with exactly one time step (like disk_out_ref.ex2).https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/8523add magnetisme feature in the RULER source to position points to existing dis...2019-03-05T10:43:22-05:00Kitware Robotadd magnetisme feature in the RULER source to position points to existing displayed nodes**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=8523). Distance may be measured in ParaView between existing nodes/points.
Thus it would be interesting when using the RULER source to measure distance, to have the points of the RULER automatically stuck to the closest existing displayed nodes, if the the distance between the RULER point and this closest node if lower than a given bound.
The RULER point can be moved by mouse.
This magnetisme could be activated or not when one of the RULER point is moved with the mouse.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/8498Restart files should be automatically found and used2019-03-05T10:43:22-05:00Kitware RobotRestart files should be automatically found and used**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=8498). Restart files should automatically be found and used, both for single processor and multiple processor files.
A stretch goal would be to allow the restart file name format to be flexible. For instance, to be able to use the name file.e-s0002.2.0 as well as file.e-s.0002.2.0.
An example of restart file names are:
file.e.2.0
file.e.2.1
file.e-s.0002.2.0
file.e-s.0002.2.1
Attached is an example of a multi file restart file group. I think they are good files, but am not sure.

Applies to 2d View(which is the default), and 3D view in slice mode. 3D View set to surface mode does the right thing.
