ParaView's submodules are always set up to use the git protocol url. For users that can't use the git url protocol to clone paraview, they use a different url protocol to get paraview but when they try to checkout the submodules it still uses the git url protocol to clone the repos. This causes problems/confusion. Instead it should be that that submodules use the same url protocol as the main paraview clone.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/12387Creating Prism:Table To Points Filter crashes ParaView2018-08-28T09:39:50-04:00Kitware RobotCreating Prism:Table To Points Filter crashes ParaView**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=12387). The demand-driven AMR infrastructure, implemented in vtkAMRBaseReader, supports upstream requests from the pipeline that specify which blocks are to be loaded.
However, when the user performs actions within the paraview user-interface that can trigger multiple such requests, it can lead to an overwhelming amount of I/O for multiple requests of the same data. One solution to minimize the I/O and avoid reading data that has already been read is to cache AMR blocks in a separate data-structure, e.g., a vtkAMRDataSetCache, that will be an ivar of the vtkAMRBaseReader.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/12382Help does not work within firewall2018-08-28T09:39:50-04:00Kitware RobotHelp does not work within firewall**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=12382). Displaying multiple surfaces in the same view is problematic. Each surface is displayed correctly, but the relationship between the surfaces is not correct; for example, if one surface should be twice as high as the first, it will not be shown shifted the correct amount and will be distorted.

The second thing that would need to be worked out is the linked selection. Prism uses the GlobalElementID to link selection. I believe there is a GlobalPointID that it could use with point data. This is a tricky one, at least as far as coming up with a repro case is concerned, because for some source/filter combinations plus a final save state + load state all color legends get restored from a state file, for other combinations one or two out of three color legends are not restored. I hope you can reproduce using these steps.
Sources - Wavelet - Apply
Filters - Calculator - Operation: "coordsX" - Result Array Name: "coordsX" - Apply (we just need an extra data array to color by)
Filters - Random Vectors - Apply
Filters - Clean to Grid - Apply
Filters - Transform - Translate in x direction by 21 - Apply
Color by RTData
Enable Color Legend Visibility and move legend to nonstandard location
Select object CleantoGrid1 in pipeline browser
Filters - Transform - Translate in x direction by 42 - Apply
Color by BrownianVectors(Magnitude)
Enable Color Legend Visibility and move legend to nonstandard location
Select object CleantoGrid1 in pipeline browser
Make object visible
Color by coordsX
Enable Color Legend Visibility and move legend to nonstandard location
File - Save State
File - Disconnect
File - Load State
=> Color legend for RTData is missing
I've attached a Python Trace script for the commands above (generated with ParaView 3.10.1 official binary release for Win32) which should facilitate reproducing the issue:
Tools - Python Shell - Run script - Close
File - Save State
File - Disconnect

Script:
out = self.GetOutput()
newPoint = vtk.vtkPoints()
newPoint.InsertPoint(0, 0,0,0)
out.SetPoints(newPoint)
newCell = vtk.vtkCellArray()
vertex = vtk.vtkVertex()
vertex.GetPointIds().SetId(0,0)
newCell.InsertNextCell(vertex)
out.SetVerts(newCell)
Apply
=> An error is raised "AttributeError: SetVerts" and subsequently ParaView segfaults:
```
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
at ParaView.git/VTK/Graphics/vtkDataSetSurfaceFilter.cxx:1644
1644 if (quad->numPts == 4 && c == quad->ptArray[2])
```
Admittedly, the user is at fault by not changing "Output Data Set Type" to "vtkPolyData" prior to hitting Apply, but ParaView should not segfault for "Same as Input"/"vtkUnstructuredGrid". Indeed, ParaView does handle the related case properly: run the same script as ProgrammableSource and select "vtkUnstructuredGrid" as "Output Data Set Type". Above's error message is raised, but no segfault is caused.
