In my most recent pull of master, ParaView is crashing when threshold returns an empty data set. This problem is not present in the last release of ParaView (4.1.0). To replicate:

When doing the configuration to compile paraview (ccmake) careful must me taken using the PARAVIEW_EXTERNAL_PLUGIN_DIRS variable. If more than one external plugin source directory is added (separated by ;) no trailing / (slash) is permitted. This is because the script that treat this variable (CMake/ParaViewPluginsMacros.cmake:169) create a build directory for each external plugin using the get_filename_component command. If a trailing / is present then the dir_name variable is empty and the plugin is build inside the ExternalPlugin (not in a subdirectory). Cmake gives an error if we use the same build directory to build 2 sources.
example using PARAVIEW_EXTERNAL_PLUGIN_DIRS /Path/to/my/plugin1/;/Path/to/my/plugin2/ :
CMake Error at CMake/ParaViewPluginsMacros.cmake:187 (add_subdirectory):
The binary directory
/build/directory/of/ParaView4_binDebug/ExternalPlugins
is already used to build a source directory. It cannot be used to build
source directory
/Path/to/my/plugin2
Specify a unique binary directory name.
Call Stack (most recent call first):
CMakeLists.txt:727 (pv_process_plugins)
using no trailing / solved the problem

The Extent Translator values used by
int vtkStreamingDemandDrivenPipeline::SetUpdateExtent
can be completely wrong.
Example : Create a wavelet source. Default params. (extent, -10,10...)
Add a Mask Points filter, with vertices enabled. Add a Gaussian resample filter with default params.
On a small piece of the output is generated.
The Update request for the Gaussian resample uses the extent translator that was bound to the Wavelt. It has extents {-10,10,-10,10,-10,10} which are clamped by {0,50,0,50,0,50} to give {0,10,0,10,0,10) and so only 1/5 of the output is generated.
Very nasty to work with mixture of image and polygon datasets.

I am starting using Paraview 4.0.1 . If I open a pvd from the command line as
open -a paraview filename.pvd
I get a window, title Open data with ... asking me for a reader! (see screenshot at the end). The list of readers is empty. If I select ok or cancel the data is read. If open directly from paraview, no message like that appears. The expected behaviour is to open the pvd file directly without any reader question, or at least to show the pvd reader in the reader list.
I am working in Mac OS X 10.8.4, with the latest stable paraview release, paraview-4.0.1-darwin-64bit.dmg. This also happens for the Lion version. AND ALSO HAPPENS FOR .vtp files.
Version 3.98 works without a problem (i.e when oppening from the command line it just opens the datafile without asking for a reader for pvd files.)
The pvd data file is very simple:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<VTKFile type="Collection" version="0.1" byte_order="LittleEndian">
<Collection>

The binary distribution of ParaView 4.0.1 (Linux) downloaded from paraview.org has problem volume rendering vtkImage larger than certain size.
To reproduce:
1. start paraview.
2. choose the Wavelet source.
3. set the extend to some "large" number like [-150, 150] for each dimension.
4. choose Volume as representation.
5. ParaView crashes with the following message:

Steps:
1. Open paraview, open python shell
2.

rep = Show()
rep.Representation = 'Volume'
Crash happens then. Dave T. traced this and found out it's because the ColorArrayName has to be set prior to setting the Representation, but it shouldn't crash when this happens.

It occurs in building any one of the examples. It also occurs when I try to build VeloView with the these prebuilt ParaView binaries.
The linking error can be fixed in CMakeLists.txt by adding `target_link_libraries(${Name} LINK_PRIVATE vtkPVServerManagerDefault)` which is copied from ParaView application itself. Thus I guess the problem is due to some linking configuration in CMake macro `build_paraview_client`.
Besides, there's another issue in ParaView/Examples/Spreadsheet. Although `pqDisplayPolicy` is deprecated in commit 8be79855cc513bedbfa7292d7267c8b1c3bef4f0, it's still used [**here**](https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/blob/master/Examples/CustomApplications/Spreadsheet/SpreadSheetMainWindow.cxx#L98) in the example which will prevent it from being compiled successfully.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/17003Deprecation warnings: deprecated pixel format used, make sure you did set ran...2020-05-12T21:37:08-04:00Elias PippingDeprecation warnings: deprecated pixel format used, make sure you did set range correctlyAfter calling `WriteAnimation` with an AVI argument, for each time step I get a warning

(I am new to the bugtracker, I hope I put this message in the right project.)
I loaded three stl-files from medical data (which I unfortunately can't add to this message) to paraview an animated the opacity of the loaded files to fade from 0 to 1 in a given time. After finishing the animation I saved the animation as a state to disk. After closing paraview and loading the state, the opacity-feature appeared in the animation view as "<unrecognized>", but the animation still worked. When I tried to add another animation of opacity or visibility, paraview crashed without showing any kind of error message. This also happens when loading and saving the files without an animation and try to add an animation of opacity or visibility. I run Paraview on a Windows 7 x64 machine. https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/15054WebGL exporter fails for Multi-Block Data-Sets2020-05-12T21:33:14-04:00Kitware RobotWebGL exporter fails for Multi-Block Data-Sets**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=15054).
