---
On OS X mouse wheel has inertia / momentum when scrolling / zooming. There's no typical mouse wheel, but rather touch area on Apple's Magic Mouse. Swiping with finger causes underlying view receive scroll momentum.
Currently ParaView (and probably all VTK based views) choke on such events on OS X. Where normal panning works well, using zoom via Apple's mouse swipe causes app to become unresponsive for several seconds when viewing some non-trivial data, and usually needs to be killed by the user.
This makes using ParaView on OS X really painful experience.
Please see attached video showing the random behavior of mouse wheel on some volumetric data:
1. First part using outline view, I am swiping my finger up, but rather than zooming in the outline starts to zoom then zooms out, making the behavior unpredictable
2. Using volumetric view you can see similar behavior but the zooming is far less smooth. Note this is really low zoom & low density data. Using higher zoom causes ParaView to become seriously unresponsive.
As a workaround please at least provide as soon as possible option to disable zooming by wheel, so we won't accidentally hang ParaView.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/15613In Python, setting the Input of the active source change the active source to...2021-03-23T12:00:17-04:00Kitware RobotIn Python, setting the Input of the active source change the active source to null**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=15613). Execute attached script test_color_legend.py (attached in the script+data.tar.gz) several times in the Python Shell.(Before executing correct the path to the deplacements_et_contraintes.0001.vtu file if need). As shown on attached screen-shots, we randomly get a blue color legend at the bottom of the viewer, or a color legend without the Component, or a color legend whose Component is displayed under the color legend.
In the attached script replace
color_legend_title = ""
by the
color_legend_title = " "
and execute the script several times. The display is correct.
It should be able to create a color legend with the empty title from python, as it is possible from the GUI.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/14704Stereo mode and Selection Display Inspector2021-03-23T09:55:48-04:00Kitware RobotStereo mode and Selection Display Inspector**This issue was created automatically from an original [Mantis Issue](http://paraview.org/Bug/view.php?id=14704). When I use Paraview installed from latest Fedora Workstation Repository, the drop down menu for Filters-> Alphabetical shows text for the menu-items only in the first column although the menu occupies the whole screen. The problem is that path separator was not escaped in the CreateTexture function, as it is in readers. We have something like `path\to\texture` instead of `path\\to\\texture`. In my case I had a `\t` in my path read as tab for example.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/1994710 Tet PointData Rendering Issue2020-05-28T21:44:46-04:00Paul Dawson10 Tet PointData Rendering Issue[debug_mesh_ebe.vtk](/uploads/6ccc9bd59a44da33051a84b55ca42f8a/debug_mesh_ebe.vtk)

It seems like that issue has been rectified in that build, but it has highlighted a different bug in Paraview.
My script that failed to write the png exited cleanly as though nothing had gone wrong, with the only evidence being a vtkPNGWriter error on stderr and a missing png file. This seems incorrect.
If the vtk c++ code being called fails and throws an error, that should raise an exception in the python code accordingly, or at the very least return something representing failure. In this case my call to `paraview.simple.SaveScreenshot` returned `True`.
I have tried to follow the code a bit more to see what's happening here but quickly ran into compiled .so's at `servermanager.misc.Screenshot` so I'm all outta juice.https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/19694directory or filename with mutated vowel fail to load2020-05-06T22:55:27-04:00Sassan Ghanaidirectory or filename with mutated vowel fail to loadHi,

The paraview feature to select cells via frustum doesn't work right if the actors have a non-identity transform. This is because the vtkExtractSelectedFrustum only works in world coordinates.
FYI, I intend to submit a VTK branch to update vtkExtractSelectedFrustum to accept an actor transform as an optional input, which could be used in paraview to make the select-via-frustum feature a bit more general.
