thanks for your answer, while I do understand your concern about mantaining this feature, and after reading section 6.8, I feel like adding this kind of custom command is quite out of reach of common CMake/LaTeX users…
While possible, this would exclude the bulk of the user base from this feature, and in fact, I'd rather have more supports (including gnuplot end the likes) rather than adding 100+ lines of CMake macros to each new project to support new dependencies that are, in fact, quite common…
I really feel like adding one conversion rule of a few lines (see the patch) makes more sense, and makes the maintenance easier… (also I can help maintain if needed).
IMO, considering plantuml or other image genarators as image formats actually make sense, since this how they are included in LaTeX documents anyway.
If you think I should implement it in a different way (to still integrate it in the mainline), please let me know.

Would you consider this MR adding support for PlantUML as images? to include a plantuml diagram, simply add it as an image, it will automatially get converted (include using includegraphics)
