Matlab mex files do not export mexFunction when linking to Matlab 2018b

Matlab 2018b is unable to load a mex file generated with FindMatlab and matlab_add_mex using Visual Studio 2017, failing with error message:

Invalid MEX-file '[MEX_FILENAME]': Gateway function is missing

This error does not occur using previous version of Matlab generated using the same CMake project.
