information on the official help
With CMake 3.19 the string
command got the new JSON
capabilities. I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to add some information to the documentation on when the feature was introduced. I was thinking of something like GitLab does for its documentation (see example)
In source of the documentation this looks as follows: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/blob/master/doc/ci/directed_acyclic_graph/index.md
# Directed Acyclic Graph
> - [Introduced](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-foss/-/issues/47063) in GitLab 12.2.
> - [Feature flag removed](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/issues/206902) in GitLab 12.10.
When I wanted to add the info to string(JSON)
help page the information was already present https://gitlab.kitware.com/cmake/cmake/-/blob/master/Help/command/string.rst#L519
.. _JSON:
JSON
^^^^
.. versionadded:: 3.19
Functionality for querying a JSON string.
Unfortunately this information is not visible on the published documentation https://cmake.org/cmake/help/v3.19/command/string.html#json
Currently the only way for me to check the documentation on if I can use a command in a specific CMake version is to manually "go back" version by version and see if the documentation changed
