Feature-Request: Put CPACK_PACKING_INSTALL_PREFIX into cmake-gui / ccmake
Using cmake-gui
(or ccmake
) it is possible for the user to set CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX
and be able to make install
the built project to that location.
However, a make package
creates a package which would install the built project to the default location (e.g. /usr/local
) and not to the one specified in CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX
. One has to set CPACK_PACKAGING_INSTALL_PREFIX
to the same value to achieve that.
Looking at several open source projects it seems the knowledge of CPACK_PACKAGING_INSTALL_PREFIX
is not very wide-spread.
It would probably help if the CPACK_PACKAGING_INSTALL_PREFIX
would be visible in cmake-gui
(and ccmake
).
Further more it could be quite useful to pre-populate CPACK_PACKAGING_INSTALL_PREFIX
with the value of CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX
by default if it is not set explicitly. (If that would disturb too many projects in the wild it would at least be useful if that would be the case for building CMake itself.)
